Report by Upfront237 The North West Regional Assembly (NWRA) has concluded its September 2025 Ordinary Session with a significant investment in Education, awarding scholarships and school kits to over 1,000 students across the Region. The Scholarships and Recognition initiative included amongst others; - 500 students receiving FCFA 10,000 each for excelling in Promotion Examinations at both Primary and Secondary schools, - 119 students receiving scholarships ranging from FCFA 30,000 to 60,000 for outstanding performance in National Certificate Examinations, - Induction into the prestigious North West Regional Honour Roll. Additionally, 400 students benefited from back to school kits containing school bags and exercise books. On September 21, 2025, the council officially commissioned a newly acquired road grader, marking a significant milestone in the municipality's efforts to address decades of road neglect. For years, Bafut's severely degraded roads have hindered local agriculture, restricted access to essential services, and increased transportation costs. The introduction of the grader aims to transform mobility, productivity, and social development in the Region. Youth Empowerment through Solar Energy; 38 Graduate in Bamenda!

In the conflict affected Region of Bamenda Cameroon, a new wave of hope is emerging. 38 young individuals have graduated as Solar Technicians after completing the Community Action for Advancing Sustainable Development's (CAASDEV) Solar Bright Future program. The North West Region of Cameroon has faced socio-political instability, leading to widespread unemployment and energy poverty. CAASDEV's initiative aims to address these challenges by equipping vulnerable youths with green skills. The Solar Bright Future program provided intensive training in solar systems design, installation, and maintenance. Graduates gained hands-on experience and are now registered with the National Employment Fund for job placement and mentorship opportunities. In an attempt to Empower Women and Marginalized Groups, the program prioritized inclusivity, with at least 50% of participants being women and 80% being internally displaced persons, returnees, or persons with disabilities.
