The DG celebrated the successes of the Cameroon Emergency Food Crisis Combat Project (PULCCA), noting that the initiative has exceeded its targets. From 2024 to 2025, MIDENO supported over 24,700 farmers with essential inputs, far surpassing the initial target of 10,700 farmers. This effort significantly enhanced food security and productivity among both male and female farmers, including vulnerable groups such as internally displaced persons and refugee women.

In addition to input distribution, MIDENO provided essential agricultural equipment such as power tillers and knapsack sprayers to more than 9,000 farmers, improving their capacity for land preparation and crop management. DG Matoyah emphasized that these initiatives have been vital in bolstering the region’s agricultural resilience amid ongoing socio-economic challenges.

For the year 2026, MIDENO is distributing a range of agricultural inputs aimed at fortifying the livelihood of coffee farmers and boosting local agriculture:

- 1,600 bags of Bio-Complex Solid Fertilizer for organized coffee farmers

- 15 tons of improved maize seeds

- 3 tons of High Iron Bean Seeds developed by MIDENO

- 560 tins of carrot seeds for intercropping

- 10,000 plantain plantlets to promote coffee based intercropping systems. According to the Management of MIDENO, these inputs are crafted to enhance soil fertility, increase yield, and foster resilience among farming households.

Additionally, MIDENO's collaboration with the University of Bamenda is set to facilitate the development of young professionals in agriculture. The initiative includes mentorship and training opportunities, generating skilled entrepreneurs in coffee marketing and value chain development.

In concluding his speech, DG Matoyah urged local farmers to maximize the use of agricultural inputs and adhere to best practices. He expressed optimism that through collective effort, the North West Region could boost agricultural production and strengthen food security.

As farmers prepare for the rainy season ahead, the initiatives outlined during the launch signify a hopeful step toward agricultural sustainability and rural prosperity in the North West Region.
