MINADER Lays Foundation Stone of RVCDP Management Unit in Bamenda!

The Minister of Agriculture And Rural Development (MINADER), Gabriel Mbairobe has laid the Foundation Stone for the Project Management Unit (PMU) Office of the Rice Value Chain Development Project (RVCDP).

In his opening remarks, Minister Mbairobe explained that the Laying of the foundation stone is a symbol of commitment, symbol of hope and progress.

“This moment is not just about laying a foundation stone, it symbolizes our collective commitment to enhance food security, boost local economies and improve livelihoods of countless families in our communities. This PMU is testament to our dedication to fostering sustainable agricultural practices and empowering farmers”

According to MINADER, the Unit will have a dedicated team focused on coordinating efforts, monitoring progress, and ensuring effective implementation of initiatives through job creation, skill development, economic growth, food security.

“The RVCDP is designed to create a robust framework for rice production, processing and marketing. By investing in this project we are investing in the future of our agricultural sector”

The Bamenda City Mayor on his part expressed hope that the Project signifies a significant leap forward in our Agricultural sector as it is more than an initiative focused on rice production but a comprehensive approach designed to uplift farmers, enhance food security and stimulate economic growth.

Expected to create jobs and boost the economy of the country, the Building located at Customs Junction, Bamenda Up Station will consist of 5 floors, 2 elevators, 2 Board rooms, office space, kitchen, lavatory space and lodging facilities for partners and guests of the project.

The PMU building is inclusive as needs of physically challenged and persons living with all forms of disabilities have been considered.

The ceremony brought together Administrative, Religious and Traditional Authorities from the North West and West Regions.

Ntambang Community Members Schooled on Rape, GBV, Sexual Assault!

As part of activities under the “Adjust For Me” Project implemented in some four local council areas in Bamenda, Community members at the Ntambang locality continue to receive sensitization on Sexual Reproduction Health topics like GBV, Rape, Toxic Masculinity, Sexual Assault, FGM, among others. Community Spokesperson under the project recently carried out a sensitization campaign on GBV, Sexual Assault and its effects on pupils at the Government Practising School Old Town. During conversations, pupils were advised to report every form of abuse/assault to their teachers or parents so as to avoid any damage whatsoever. MIDENO Highlights 2024 Achievements, Charts Bold Course for Regional Transformation!

The North West Development Authority (MIDENO) has capped off 2024 with a celebration of impactful achievements and ambitious plans for 2025. At its annual press conference on December 4, 2024, held at the Epic Center in Bamenda, General Manager Cletus Anye Matoyah commended the staff for their relentless efforts, showcasing a year of innovation, growth, and resilience. Among the year’s standout accomplishments was MIDENO’s implementation of the Emergency Project to Combat Food Crisis in Cameroon (PULCCA). Backed by a 4.9 billion FCFA World Bank grant, the project has empowered over 10,000 farmers with improved seeds such as cassava, maize, potatoes, plantains, and vegetables. Forty tons of these seeds were distributed, with each farmer receiving three kilograms free of charge, while additional seeds were sold at subsidized rates to encourage broader adoption.
