Report by Upfront237

The North West Regional Executive Council rounded off its September Ordinary Session, marking a pivotal moment in the Regions decentralization journey and development aspirations. The session, themed "Medium term (2026-2028) Budget framework orientation session," is the final Ordinary Sitting of the council's first mandate, which has laid a solid foundation for Regional Governance.

Prime Minister's Visit to Bamenda is said to have Sparked Hope as the session comes on the heels of a historic visit by Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute, who inaugurated the long-awaited Babadjou-Bamenda road and launched works on the Bamenda Urban Crossing and C2D-backed development projects. The Prime Minister's visit was seen as a powerful demonstration of Governments resolve to bring tangible development to the Region.

Strengthening Traditional Governance

The session also reviewed outcomes from a recent workshop on traditional leadership, aimed at equipping traditional rulers with the tools to navigate the evolving decentralized political structure. This initiative seeks to enable Royal fathers to better operate within the decentralized setup and promote citizen participation.

Election Preparedness and Call for Unity.

With the 2025 Presidential elections scheduled for October 12, the State Representative emphasized the importance of electoral readiness and called for unity among stakeholders. He condemned hate speech and divisive rhetoric, urging citizens to put hands on deck to ensure a smooth and peaceful electoral process.

Prioritizing Education and Security.

North West Governor also issued a strong rebuke against renewed calls for school boycotts, describing them as "irresponsible" and a "grave injustice" to the Regions children. He commended Defence and Security Forces for their bravery and dedication amid ongoing insecurity challenges in the Region.
