North West Regional Assembly (NWRA) Champions Peace, Development, and Decentralization in September Session!

The North West Regional Assembly recently rounded up its September 2025 Ordinary Session with a strong emphasis on Unity, Development, and continuity in leadership. During the opening ceremony, President Prof. Fru Angwafo III highlighted the Assembly's achievements over the past 5 years, showcasing its role in transforming decentralization into a tangible reality for citizens across the Region's 34 Subdivisions.
Some Key Achievements recounted during the Session include the following;
- *Peace and Development Initiative (PDI)*: Executed over 200 grassroots projects in 2023 and over 100 additional projects in 2025, focusing on Infrastructure, Peace building, and Social cohesion.
- Public Investment Projects: Delivered 244 projects through Public-Private-Population Partnerships (PPPPs) with National and International collaborators, including FEICOM, Cameroon Customs, Smile Train, and eBASE Africa.
- Digital Innovation Hub: Supported 100 young innovators in launching 49 startups, expected to generate over 1,000 jobs and 6 billion CFA francs in revenue by 2035.
Call for Unity and Progress
The Assembly President extended a unifying call to stakeholders, traditional rulers, community leaders, youth, women, and civil society to work together towards consolidating gains and advancing the Regions quest for Peace, Prosperity, and inclusive development. He emphasized the Regions resilience and determination to overcome ongoing socio-political and security challenges.
The September session focused on debates on budget orientation and execution for the first three quarters of 2025 with key presentations on;
- Good governance in Regional and Local Authorities
- Update on Budget Execution
- Medium-term (2026-2028) Budget framework.
Project Execution Update
As of September 10, 2025, the Assembly reported:
- 52.65% general percentage of execution for Investment Budget projects
- 9.00% execution rate for PPRD projects, with an average time consumption of 15%
- 8 out of 10 PROLOG-funded projects awarded, with all projects still ongoing.
