Bamenda Liquidified Petroleum Gas (LPG) Filling Center Inaugurated!

As part of efforts to increase energy accessibility, reduce the price of gas and promote environmental conservation in Cameroon, the Minister of Water Resources and Energy, Gaston Eloundou Essomba, officially inaugurated the Bamenda Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) Filling Centre on May 9, 2025.


In his Inaugural speech, Minister Elloundou said the gas project is part of Government’s effort to bring domestic gas closer and accessible to consumers in the North West Region. He continued that Government has plans to construct and equip similar centres in all 10 Regions of the country. The Minister emphasized the project's alignment with the National Development Strategy and its potential to improve living standards through sustainable energy access.


Okie Johnson Ndoh, General Manager of the Hydrocarbons Prices Stabilization Fund described the centre as a "Game Changer" that will increase supply efficiency and stabilize prices in the North West Region.


“12.5 litre bottle of gas will be sold at 6500FCFA, and workers will be selected and trained from Bamenda, so as to enhance Community impact. Works are equally ongoing to replace some 7 damaged transformers, to ensure steady supply of electricity in the locality hosting the gas plant” Okie Johnson said.

Facilities at the project site according to Okie Johnson include; an Administrative building, operational installations, residential quarters, a clinic and recreational facilities.

With Storage & filling Capacities of 200 metric tonnes and 650 gas bottles per hour, the Bamenda LPG Filling Centre is expected to reduce the price of gas, promote environmental conservation ,boost local economy through the creation of jobs.

In an attempt to promote quality Education in the North West Region, SCDP Management during Fridays event, offered Educational material gifts to all 7 Divisions.

The ceremony that brought together Administrative, Traditional & Religious Authorities held in Bangshie, Bamendakwe, on the 9th of May 2025.
